If your driver’s license is suspended for any reason, such as driving under the influence of alcohol, you will soon realize that your life will need to change. For example, you will not have access to a vehicle for getting to and from work and/or school. This can pose a major problem in your life.
Fortunately, there are steps you can take to avoid this type of trouble. For example, the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles can help you apply for a provisional driver license.
You are only eligible for a provisional driver license if it was suspended for a first offense of driving under the influence. If you have faced this same trouble in the past, you will not qualify.
Here are some eligibility requirements for a provisional driver license:
— You must have previously held a South Carolina driver’s license.
— You must not have any other suspensions following the DUI.
— You must enroll in the Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program.
— You must pay a fee of $100 for the provisional driver license.
If you feel that you are eligible to apply for a provisional driver license, you can do so by filing the appropriate paperwork with the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. From there, a final determination will be made based on your situation.
You never want to find that your driver’s license is being suspended. If this does happen, you don’t have to wait for the suspension to end. Instead, you may be able to request a provisional driver license.
