South Carolina bus driver fired after high breath test

In South Carolina, the consequences of a DUI charge are serious no matter what the specific details of the situation. However, when an individual is facing charges and a potential DUI conviction after a high breath test, the consequences can compound.

A South Carolina bus driver has not only lost her job, but is also facing criminal charges for DUI after crashing her bus and taking a blood alcohol test with a resulting .17 blood alcohol content. The woman was driving the bus in the morning with no children on board when she went off the road and into a ditch. When questioned by troopers, the woman said she had consumed wine the night before.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the accident.

In South Carolina, when a driver is pulled over and takes a breath test with a result higher than .15, they are subject to the immediate revocation of their driver's license. This revocation can be for 60 days or longer.

These types of cases can be more complex than other DUI cases. There are many situations where the machines used to test blood alcohol levels have been proven to return inaccurate and faulty results. This is why it is important to analyze all of the details of the situation.

No matter what the circumstances surrounding the traffic stop and DUI charges, the accused should not lose hope. Although these situations may seem intimidating at first, with the right defense they can be negotiated and many times lead to a less punitive outcome than may have been initially expected.
