Famous rapper pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving in SC

Many previous postings in this blog have discussed drivers that have been pulled over or gotten into an accident while their blood alcohol content is allegedly over the legal limit. Although the previous postings may make residents of South Carolina feel like these sorts of things only happen to everyday folk, that is not always the case. Some residents may have heard of the rapper DMX. He was recently pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving while traveling in South Carolina. As a result of the traffic stop this well-known rapper could potentially face drunk driving charges.

DUI charges and allegations involving drunk driving can be very damaging to people's reputations, especially when they are either a well-known public figure or celebrity. In this unfortunate case, the charges may definitely negatively impact the reputation of the rapper even though the arrest has raised much controversy with his representatives.

The allegations initially arose after an officer pulled the rapper over for not wearing a seatbelt. It is unknown if the rapper submitted to a roadside sobriety test. However, what is known is that he was taken to a detention center but left a short time later on just over $1,200 in bail. According to the rapper's representative, DMX was given a breathalyzer in jail and passed it which was why he was in and out of jail so quickly.

Unfortunately, when people are charged with a crime, their history of criminal behavior may become influential in the determination of whether they will be convicted of the charges currently in question. In this case, DMX has a criminal history including animal cruelty, drug possession, reckless driving, probation violations and weapons charges. A history of this nature could play into a judge's decision on convictions and sentencing. However, despite his history, DMX still has criminal defense options that can reduce or eliminate these charges.
