Man faces DUI after crashing into power pole in South Carolina

Driving a motor vehicle always comes with a certain amount of risk. This can come from other drivers or random obstacles on the road. However, these risks are multiplied for those who end up making the mistake of drinking and driving. It’s possible this was the case in a recent car accident in South Carolina, which resulted in a driver being charged with a DUI.

The incident happened at approximately 12:35 a.m. in late July when a 25-year-old man was driving his vehicle down the road. The man was behind the wheel of his 1995 Toyota when, for some reason, he drove off the road. After his vehicle left the road, it ran into a power pole.

The power pole that the vehicle crashed into fell down and ended up blocking the roadway. Luckily, the man was wearing his safety belt and avoided suffering any injuries. The police arrived on the scene shortly after the incident. The man was then arrested and charged with a DUI. The freeway was closed for almost the rest of the morning in order to allow authorities to investigate the incident as well as for clean-up crews to remove the obstacles from the road.

The man may now have to deal with a serious legal problem as a result of the DUI charge following this accident in South Carolina. Not only can a DUI cause the loss of driving privileges, in some cases it can result in time behind bars. On the other hand, the man will have a chance to defend himself in a court of law. With a strong legal defense strategy, it may be possible to minimize penalties or even have charges dropped.
