Ms. Howard was born and raised in North Carolina, where she graduated from Appalachian State University. After college, she moved to the Charleston area, becoming a Law Enforcement Officer. During her 10+ year career with the Mt. Pleasant and Summerville Police Departments, Ms. Howard completed extensive training, becoming an expert in Impaired Driving investigation and enforcement when she earned her certification as a Drug Recognition Expert. A year later, after having worked over 30 DRE drug evaluations in the field, she became a DRE Instructor – going on to teach and assist with 4 DRE School’s, the ARIDE course, and multiple DUI/SFST Practitioner courses, certifying numerous officers throughout the state in each.

As an officer, she made hundreds of DUI cases, working DUI grant positions with both MPPD and SPD’s Traffic Divisions, and logging 170 DRE drug evaluations in the field and as an instructor. In 2019, she was awarded Officer of the Year for the Summerville Police Department by the Knights of Columbus, and the award for DRE of the Year by MADD. She was also recognized for her work in the impaired driving field – receiving a MADD DUI Hero award each year she was an officer.

Today, as the Investigator for the Drennan Law Firm, Ms. Howard takes pride in upholding the same level of honesty, integrity, experience and expertise she maintained as an Officer, while investigating the DUI cases taken on by the firm.
